The Blues

Two figures rise like shadows out of a wash of deep blue, their faces long and downcast, dissolving at the edges into the colour of their mood. Adair lets the pigment run and pool so the sorrow feels weather-borne — something moved through rather than posed. It is melancholy given a body, and, in being seen, made a little more bearable. The title is the feeling and the colour at once.
