Where It Begins
Why Portugal
Saudade is a Portuguese word. There is no translation — only the feeling. It is the longing for what is beautiful. It is the pull of what you love, across distance and time. It is the ache of the Atlantic. It is the force that built bridges between continents.
Portugal is where this project finds its soul. A land at the edge of Europe that once connected entire worlds — carrying people, culture, and meaning across the ocean. That spirit lives here still. This is where the first Saudade Land takes root: a community node on Portuguese soil, accessible to Europe, open to the Atlantic, ancient in its earth.
Saudade was born from this crossing. I grew up in South America — shaped by its land, its people, and the ancient wisdom still alive there. I moved to Europe at sixteen, carrying both worlds inside me ever since. Portugal is the meeting point where those worlds converge. The bridge is not between hemispheres — it is between what is most alive, most true, and most human in all of us.
