I'm Mayka, the founder of Saudade. This is my story, and the vision I'm building around it: a brand, a community and, one day, a piece of land where a different way of living becomes real.

The Founder

I was born in South America.

Brazil, Bolivia, Ecuador: those places shaped me. I grew up understanding that there is more to this world than what we see. That we are made of energy. That we are connected in ways most people forget.

I was a passionate child, intensely alive, with an inner drive I didn't yet have words for. Life asked me to grow up fast, and I did. At fourteen, done waiting for a different reality, I left. Not running away. Moving forward. That refusal to stay where the energy is wrong has shaped everything that came after.

The roads since have taken me across continents and through work I only ever took on because I loved it. When the idea of building a brand first came to me, it took real courage to believe it was possible. The ordinary world didn't seem to have a place for me. So I decided to build one.

Making that decision, I began to remember. As a little girl I was already drawing clothes and inventing stories about them. That child never stopped creating. Reconnecting with her gave me everything.

The Word

Saudade has no translation. It is a feeling.

It is the deep longing for meaningful connection: the energy that bridges the distance between hearts. It can be nostalgia, love, even heartbreak. Always profound, always expanding.

It is the aspiration for genuine connection with ourselves, with nature, with the universe. That is what this brand is built on. Not a trend. A feeling that has always existed, finally given a home.

Clothing, to me, is a vessel. My signature kimono is designed as an energy protector cape, drawing on Andean wisdom and the Chakana, the sacred cross of the Inca and its three worlds. Organic, made with intention, meant to elevate.

My siblings, my inspiration

We looked after each other when no one else did.

I grew up with a brother and a sister, and the three of us learned early that we were each other's home. My little sister has always been my light. My brother taught me, without ever meaning to, what it looks like to create from pure vision.

He has always been an artist. Before words, before the world made sense, there was drawing. He sees the world differently, and his paintings carry that: raw, untrained, entirely his own. What galleries call art brut, or outsider art. Nothing in it is decorative. Every line is a transmission.

He prefers a quiet life, far from any spotlight, so you won't find him here. But his art speaks for itself, and every piece that finds a home helps him build the peaceful life, the garden and the studio he dreams of. Caring for the people I love is at the centre of who I am. Saudade grew from that.
