Saudade

OUR ROOTS

Born from feeling.
Built from love.

Saudade is not only a brand. It is the shape that love takes when it decides to build something lasting.

Where It Begins

We were born in South America.

Brazil, Bolivia, Ecuador β€” they shaped us. We grew up understanding that there is more to this world than what we see. That we are made of energy. That we are connected in ways most people forget. That understanding never left.

I was a passionate child β€” intensely alive, with an incredible inner drive and a talent I didn't yet have words for. Life asked me to grow up fast, and I did β€” not out of resignation, but out of sheer will. At fourteen, done waiting for a different reality, I left. Not running away. Moving forward. That quality β€” that refusal to stay where the energy is wrong β€” has shaped everything that came after.

MY SIBLINGS, MY INSPIRATION

Adair β€” the artist behind the art.

Adair is my brother and the artist behind every print you'll find in the Saudade shop. His work is not decorative β€” it is visionary. Born from a mind that sees the world differently, each piece carries a frequency all its own.

Adair has always been an artist. Before words, before the world made sense β€” there was art. Drawing was his language. Painting was his prayer. Every line, a step back toward himself.

Diagnosed with schizophrenia and other rare conditions, he moved through realities none of us could follow. The institutions meant to help sedated him, experimented on him, and returned him more lost than before. For years, the system failed him. He was too different, too vast, too much for a world that hadn't yet learned to make space for minds like his.

What finally reached him was not found inside those walls. It was nature. Natural medicine. The quiet discipline of making something beautiful with his hands. Slowly, on his own terms, he found his way back to himself. He found peace. He found purpose. And he found the courage to share his visions with the world.

His dream is simple and complete: a small piece of land where he can build his home, tend his garden, have a studio where he can keep creating his art, and live a peaceful life. The pieces I carry in the shop exist to help make that dream real β€” to help him buy land in Costa Rica, continue the natural medicines that truly heal him, and one day be close to the family he loves.

The Founder

Mayka, The Founder

While Adair healed through art, I was searching for my own path. Life took me on roads I never could have imagined β€” each one a challenge, each one a teacher. I have always needed to work with passion; every job I ever took, I took because I loved it. When the idea of building a brand first came to me, it took real courage to believe that was possible for me. The ordinary world didn't seem to have a place for me. So I decided to build one.

Making that decision, I began to reconnect to my childhood β€” and to remember. My memory isn't always kind to me; trauma has its own way of taking things. But I remembered this: as a little girl, I was already drawing clothes, making up stories about them for my little sister β€” who has always been my light. That child never stopped creating. Reconnecting to her gave me everything.

Saudade was born from that necessity β€” and from something ancient. Clothing, to me, is not just fabric. It is a vessel. My signature piece, a kimono robe designed as an energy protector cape, draws from Andean wisdom and the Chakana β€” the sacred cross of the Inca, representing the three worlds: the upper, the inner, and the outer. A reminder that we are made of energy, that we are connected, and that we can always choose to elevate.

Saudade β€” the word itself β€” has no direct translation. It is the deep longing for meaningful connection, the energy that bridges the distance between hearts. It can be nostalgia, love, even heartbreak β€” always profound, always expanding. It is the aspiration for genuine connection with ourselves, with nature, with the universe. That is what this brand is built on. Not a trend. A feeling that has always existed, finally given a home.

Caring for the ones I love has always been at the centre of who I am. Every decision I have made points toward the same dream β€” and that dream has grown far beyond a fashion brand. It is today the Saudade project.

The Dream

Saudade Land β€” a place for those who never quite had one.

Behind everything I do lies a dream: a permaculture sanctuary where artists, healers, and dreamers can gather, collaborate, and build something lasting together. A place for Adair to have his garden and his home. A place for us β€” the siblings who looked after each other when no one else did. A place for everyone who, like us, never quite found where they belonged.

The vision is to establish self-sustaining hubs across the world, starting in Brazil β€” living examples where renewable energy, permaculture, and circular economies replace exploitation and waste. Saudade is only the first step.

When you support Adair's art or wear my designs, you are not just buying a product. You are helping build that dream. Every purchase is a step toward Saudade Land.
