Folk Master

A lone figure stands facing us head-on, dressed in a shirt teeming with hand-drawn pattern, feet planted with the seriousness of someone posing for a portrait that matters. Adair fills the body with obsessive, tender detail while leaving the world around it bare. There is dignity in the frontal stare — the bearing of a village elder or a self-made saint. Naïve in hand, but wholly sure of who it is.
